Peter Taylor: The Artist

Peter draws inspiration from the timeless grandeur and unique beauty of the country’s natural landscape.  From the bright yellows and sparkling blues that represent the Australian coastline to the deep greens and soft ambers of the bush.  From the vibrant oranges and rich ochres of the outback to the vivid reds and brilliant greens of the tropical North. Peter strives to take you on a journey through his glass art that delves into the very essence of the character of Australia.

Peter’s art glass is handmade and distinctive in its unique design and vibrant use of colour.  Many have greatly admired his beautiful one-of-a-kind creations when seen on exhibition. Each piece has the artist’s signature attached and is sold with a certificate of originality.

Peter’s earlier passion was stained-glass art; coloured pieces of glass joined into intricate patterns with lead to produce brilliant translucent pictures. However, in recent years Peter has explored an exciting new direction.  He now focuses his creative energies on kiln formed glass.  Through the process of fusing and slumping his creations at high temperatures in a glass kiln, Peter is able to produce stunning and vibrant pieces of glass art.His work is tactile, yet emotive, with the desire to reveal the dramatic diversity of the continent.

Peter, with his wife Victoria, co-founded ‘Art Glass Australia’.  Their gallery is situated at the entranceway to Sydney’s Northern Beaches, where many examples of Peter’s plates, bowls and wall plaques can be seen.
 

The Art Glass Australia gallery is located at 1/650 Pittwater Road, Brookvale, NSW.
 Gallery hours are: Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturday 9 am to 1 pm.  Visitors are welcome to come and browse, purchase items or discuss a special commission with Peter and Victoria.
